![]() ![]() Techs might unlock the ability to build certain types of basic or advanced factories, or weaponry, or offer unique perks such as making a certain type of unit faster or cost less to build. You start out with three empty data banks, but the Additional Data Bank Tech can expand this capacity. Techs can be found on each planet and downloaded to your Commander's data banks by choosing to "Examine" an unexamined system. You are not limited to a number of turns, but taking liberties with your path around the galaxy may be seen by some as a form of cowardice. Be aware of systems occupied by opposing Factions, as their Commanders may possess factories you do not have available, and these Commanders must be destroyed before you can examine the system or continue your journey.Įach jump amounts to a "turn". Every solar system, even vacant solar systems, may carry forgotten Techs to be discovered. Galactic War is a procedurally-generated simulation of the early struggles of awakening Faction Leaders. You are one of the four faction leaders, and must fight your way through numerous solar in. From here you must "jump" to new solar systems that are connected to your solar system by a map of ancient stellar gateways. Your Commander awakens in a vacant solar system. ![]() This loadout doesn't allow for building of any Air Factories, Bot Factories, or Advanced Factories of any kind (unless the Techs are discovered and downloaded within the campaign). More loadouts are unlocked by playing Galactic War campaigns, though initially the Vehicle Commander Loadout will be the only loadout available. All Commanders are equal–they all have the same abilities and stats–but some loadouts are more equal than others. I've found that many people find the actual tech discovery frustrating which is why I was looking at unit restrictions with buffs / nerfs for map specific loadouts or design your own loadouts.Ĭan probably make tech discovery optional. The first step of Galactic War is to choose a Commander and a Loadout. Is it the tech discovery you find interesting or the variety of being forced to play with restricted units? Honestly, the biggest reason I play galactic war in singleplayer is the tech system which makes it more challenging and unique. I was thinking that tech system would be nice to be at least potentially applicable since some players (such as myself) find that the most distict and interesting part of galactic war. The other important part of multi-player galactic war is new steam achievements. There is already some prototype work of a simple unit editor for the existing unit restrictions in community mods. ![]() I was thinking more of including unit restrictions and a similar simple buff / nerf system instead of tech discovery. My current thoughts are extending factions to be more like some of the Queller AI sub personalities. I want that to be fully moddable and customisable with support for mods like Legion Expansion. My initial focus is on the infrastructure to support multi-game wars over time that allow for team vs AI(s) with both procedurally generated and manually design galaxies. Originally posted by Michal இ (Alsinir):Hmm, interesting, but will it feature all the galactic war techs? And will there be 4 factions in "co-op" mode with 2 being players who can fight alongside each other, or even as 1 faction (easier to make that as co-op then I guess)Īs mentioned in my reply the prototype does not include tech discovery and I'm not sure I want tech discovery for multi-player galactic war. ![]()
